Alex Lowy, CPA, CEO, Owner
Alex Lowy is the founder of Lowy's Tax Planning & Accounting, PLLC. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with a Masters in Taxation (MTAX). Alex is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accounts (AICPA) and the Arizona Society of Certified Public Accountants (ASCPA). He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Northern Arizona University in 1989 and his Masters from Arizona State University in 2002.
Alex began his career in finance as the controller for several small businesses specializing in restaurant management, manufacturing, high tech, and construction. During this time he earned his CPA certification. For the following six years, he worked as a CPA with several local firms that specialized in construction, real estate and high net worth individuals. In 2002, Alex opened his own firm, Lowy's Tax Planning and Accounting. The Lowy Team currently services over 300 small businesses specializing in medicine, law, construction, and real estate; as well as over 600 individuals a year.
Most CPA's do time at a national or regional firm, then go into private practice for mid – large companies. Alex started his employment for family owned small businesses and professional practices, and then become a tax master to help these same folks. Through his extensive education (both traditional and 13 years in the school of hard knocks – owning and running his own business) he has developed an aggressive (and Legal) attitude of pigs get fat, hogs get slaughtered attitude towards taxes. Alex is an entrepreneur at heart, having service business that helps closely held and family owned businesses and professional practices with bookkeeping, accounting, payroll, and of course taxes – all kinds of taxes! Plus his very intimate knowledge of working with thousands of small business owners gives his business a very cutting edge.
On a personal note, he is the father of five children; Brittany, Tyler, Elissa, William, and Alexis. He enjoys spending his spare time at the family's cabin on Clear Creek in Camp Verde, AZ.
Mark Hymer, CPA, MBA, Business Manager
Mark was born and raised near Seattle, Washington and joined the US Army when he was 18 years old. After 4 years of service, he moved to L.A. to study music where he met his wife. He graduated from the University of Phoenix with a Bachelor of Science in Business Accounting and MBA degree. He has been Certified Public Accountant since 2017. He had over 16 years of experience in public accounting preparing tax returns for individuals, businesses and trusts. Mark is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He enjoys playing electric and acoustic guitar and international travel.
Cynthia Bryant, Senior Accountant
Cynthia is a staff accountant and has been in our firm since 2016.
She has been in the accounting and tax preparation profession for over 25 years. Her concentrations are in tax planning, tax preparation, financial statement preparation, and payroll services. She has experience with various accounting programs, including QuickBooks.
Cynthia graduated from Pellissippi State Tech in Knoxville, Tennessee, with an AAS degree in Computer Science. She also obtained a certificate in general accounting. She is also a DDP Yoga Level 1 Instructor. She moved to Arizona in 2001 and is the mother of three boys. She enjoys music, airshows, sports, and spending time with her animals and family.
Joe Pineda, Tax Manager
Joe is the Tax Manager and has been with our firm since 2020.
Joe is a graduate of University of Wisconsin-Platteville with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. Joe is a CPA and has been in public accounting since 2001.
His public accounting experience includes accounting services and tax preparation for individuals, businesses, trusts, and exempt organizations. Joe is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Arizona Society of Certified Public Accountants.
In his spare time, Joe enjoys watching a variety of sports. As a native of Chicago, Illinois, he is an avid Bears, Bulls, Cubs & University of Wisconsin fan. Joe also likes being outdoors and loves to go hiking, biking, running, swimming, and traveling.
Anne-Marie Psenka, Senior Tax Accountant
Anne-Marie was born in Traverse City, Michigan and graduated from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, MI with a BS in Textile & Apparel Studies with a Fashion Merchandising emphasis. She moved to Phoenix in 2000 and worked in retail management for several years. Feeling likes she was meant to be an accountant; she went back to college and received her BS in Business/Accounting from the University of Phoenix.
Anne-Maire has been in the accounting and tax preparation profession for over 20 years. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, two children and dog Stimpy. She also enjoys reading fiction novels, hiking, trying new restaurants, and vacationing at the beach or skiing.
Lindsey MacPherson, Office Manager
Lindsey was born in Iowa but raised in Glendale, Arizona and is now currently living in Phoenix. She graduated from Mountain Ridge High School. Before Lowy’s, she worked with special needs children.
Her family is her world! Her boyfriend Shayne and her have been together for almost 3 years and they have 4 amazing kiddos. Her son Parker is 11 years old. Logan, Emma, and Charleigh are her bonus kids! They have 2 dogs and a few cats that visit them for treats every day.
In her spare time she loves to go hiking, camping and watch sports! Go Cubs Go!
Lindsey's goal is to continuously learn and grow in any adventure that comes her way.
She is so happy to be a part of the Lowy’s team!
Beth Payton, Tax Administrator
Beth was born and raised in Springfield Ohio (Go Buckeyes!). She moved to Craig, Colorado in 2002. She wanted to be closer to her family, so she moved to Arizona in 2022. Beth is a proud mom to 3 children and SUPER Nana to 6 rockstar grandkids! In her spare time she enjoys camping, boating, music and reading!
Polet Castillo, Tax Administrator
Polet is a passionate individual from the beautiful state of Arizona. Her most important roles in life are being a loving parent and wife. With 15 years of experience as an administrative assistant, she has honed her expertise in the medical field. Her bilingual skills have allowed her to connect with people from different cultures and backgrounds, bridging gaps and fostering understanding. In her spare time, you can find Polet embracing the great outdoors. She loves hiking, kayaking, and enjoying the lake. She also enjoys traveling with her family and making core memories. Polet is excited to have joined the team and looks forward to growing within the tax field at Lowy’s.
Morgan Jones, Tax Administrator
Morgan was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona. She escaped the heat and earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychological Sciences with a minor in Mathematics Second Education from Northern Arizona University in December 2024. As a Phoenix native, however, she realized that the cold wasn’t for her, so she moved back to Phoenix, where her family is. She enjoys hiking, picnicking, and road-tripping with her boyfriend and their sweet, energetic dog, Bjorn. She also spends a lot of her time reading, crocheting, watercolor painting, and playing Hogwarts Legacy.
Polly Gonzales, Tax Coordinator
Polly was born and raised in Pampanga, Philippines. He earned his Bachelor of Secondary Education majoring in English in 2018 at Saint Mary's Angels College of Pampanga and obtained his professional license as a teacher in 2022. With more than 5 years of customer service experience, he honed his expertise in providing top-notch customer support. In his spare he loves travelling, cooking Filipino foods, walking his dog (Milo), and watching Sci-Fi and horror movies.
Reynaldo Gaspar, Tax Coordinator
An Accountancy graduate from the Philippines, Rey spent nine enriching years working in Singapore, gaining valuable experience and broadening his perspective in the field. Now back in the Philippines for good, Rey continues his work journey closer to home. He married his college classmate, and while they don’t have children, they share their lives with 5 wonderful dogs. Outside of work, he enjoys riding motorcycles, walking their dogs, and sometimes taking them to the beach, as well as growing vegetables in their small backyard garden - simple joys that keep him grounded and inspired.
Reena Ann Rosales - Tax Coordinator
Reena Ann was born and raised in the scenic province of Mindoro, Philippines. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Entrepreneurship. With experience in Accounts Payable and a background in US Tax processes and financial operations. She loves listening to music and is interested in playing guitar. She's also an animal lover with a soft spot for both cats and dogs. But these days, aside from working, she's embracing the journey of new motherhood, and her greatest joy comes from spending time with her daughter and her family.
Reena is thrilled to be part of Lowy's and is eager to learn, grow, and contribute to the team.
